BSNL to increase capacity to 13.125 million lines

New Delhi, Dec 12 (UNI) Country's largest telecom service provider BSNL today said it has placed an order for augmenting mobile capacity by 13.125 million lines through Swedish telecom equipment major Ericsson.

Order for the remaining 9.625 million lines was placed with Nokia Siemens Network Ltd, which, however, conveyed its unwillingnes to accept the offer, a statement said.

Accordingly action is being taken to source the immediate requirement of the equipment through existing vendors.

BSNL is also planning to issue a new tender on zonal basis shortly to avoid equipment constraints, the statement added.
