Protests against IT park in Goa

Taleigao, Dec. 9, 2007 : 5,000 villagers of Taleigao Village in India"s western Goa staged a protest over an upcoming Information Technology Park on December 9th. The Government of Goa had acquired around 3 lakh square meter land for the proposed IT Park which was named 'Rajiv Gandhi IT Habitat".

The people of Taleigao constituency claim it to be a case of real-estate scam. According to the people, Goa being a small state couldn"t be populated with SEZs and IT Parks.
