Naga farmers to cultivate king chilli

Nagaland, 11 Dec, 2007 : Farmers in Nagaland are all geared up to diversify into commercial cultivation of Naga King Chilli; the world's hottest chilli.

This comes after a memorandum of understanding or MoU between the state government, Indian Tobacco Company or ITC Limited and Spices Board of India was signed recently. The State has also started the process to secure Intellectual Property Rights or IPR for the chilli, to protect it from outside encroachment.
