Guj Polls: Stage is set for 1st phase polling

Gujarat 11, Dec, 2007 : Elaborate arrangements have been made to ensure that the first phase of provincial elections in western Gujarat going to polls on December 11 are held in a free and fair atmosphere.

The electronic voting machines have been sent to the polling booths amidst tight security. Out of Eighty seven constituencies which will go to polls on Tuesday, 58 of them are located in the Saurashtra and Kutch region. the Election Commission has made heavy deployment of security personnel in the Saurashtra area fearing rigging of elections.
