Congress chief Sonia Gandhi turns 61

New Delhi, Dec. 9, 2007 : Italian-born Sonia Gandhi, chief of the ruling Congress party turned 61 on December 9. Hundreds of party activists and well wishers thronged her residence in New Delhi to greet her.

A delirious crowd gathered outside her residence with flowers, bouquets, sweets and posters of Gandhi. Party supporters, carrying banners and shouting "Long Live Sonia Gandhi," danced outside her residence to celebrate her birthday.
