Orissa to set up Command Area Development Directorate
Bhubaneswar,Dec 11 (UNI) In a bid to strengthen and develop the irrigation system in Orissa, the government today decided to establish Command Area Development and Participatory Management Directorate(CDPMD) in the state.
A proposal in this regard submitted by the Water Resources Department,has been approved by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
The Directorate, official sources said, would also supervise the Orissa integrated irrigated and agriculture and water management projects jointly undertaken by the State Water Resources Department and Asian Development Bank.
This apart, the Directorate also help strengthening the various programmes of the Pani Panchayats constituted by the farmers for better water management in the state.
