Noted scribe M Shanmugavel passes away

Chennai, Dec 11: Noted journalist and editor of Tamil eveninger 'Makkal Kural' M Shanmugavel died here today after a brief illness. He was 81.

A bachelor, Shanmugavel was popularly known as 'MS' in journalistic circle.

He began his career by joining the 'Daily Thanthi' at the age of 20 and served in the field for more than six decades.

Shanmugavel had worked in the now defunct 'Navamani' and 'Alai Osai' before he launched Makkal Kural 36 years ago.
