Naidu sure to lose his Kuppam seat: Congress

Hyderabad, Dec 11 (UNI) The ruling Congress today claimed that TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu was sure to lose his Kuppam seat as and when elections were held to the State Assembly.

Joining issue with TDP Legislature Party Secretary E Dayakar Rao and TDP Women's wing President Roja, Government Chief Whip N Kirankumar Reddy reiterated his remark that Mr Naidu would not be able to retain his Kuppam Assembly seat as the people were happy with the allround development ushered in by the Congress Government in the state, including Kuppam.

The Congress leader told reporters that Mr Naidu had lost power in 2004 and would lose the status of the Leader of the Opposition if he chose to contest again from Kuppam.

Notably the TDP leader had yesterday asked the Congress to ensure the resignation of Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy to face Mr Naidu in an electoral battle.

Commenting that the Government Chief Whip was behaving ''cheaply'', Ms Roja had challenged Mr Kirankumar Reddy to face her in an electoral battle from any constituency in Chittoor district and offered to take ''political sanyas'' if she was defeated.
