Chandigarh, Dec 11 (UNI) Western Command GOC-in-C Lt Gen T K Sapru today visited the Paraplegic Rehabilitation Centre (PRC) at Mohali, for the first time after taking over the reins of the Western command.

During the visit, Gen Sapru expressed deep concern about the welfare of the disabled soldiers and promised to help the PRC from the Western Command.

Located on outskirts of Chandigarh, PRC is a unique institution of its kind which caters to 100 per cent disabled soldiers and those army personnel who become paraplegics ( paralysis of both lower limbs) and tetraplegics (paralysis of all the four limbs) as a result of spinal cord injuries sustained while in active service.

The aim of the institute is to provide rehabilitation centre to such soldiers with a view to instill an urge to live and motivate them to become self supporting citizens by providing vocational training appropriate to their medical fitness.
