India needs sustainable fuel policy: Pranab
New Delhi, Dec 11: To ensure the availability of energy at affordable prices, the country needs a sustainable fuel retail pricing policy, Union External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee today said.
''It should be ensured that energy is avaiable at affordable prices for the country to continue the momentum of its growth,'' he told reporters here.
The country depends on imported crude oil for 70 per cent of its current energy needs, making the economy vulnerable to record oil prices that almost touched the 100 dollar a barrel-mark last month, he added.
''There is a need to generate more power from non-conventional sources led by solar and wind energy,'' Mr Mukherjee said.
