Governor extends time limit for Sakrama scheme

Bangalore, Dec 11 (UNI) Karnataka Governor Rameshwar Thakur today extended the time limit for filing of applications for regularising buildings with violations and illegal change in land use under Sakrama scheme in the state.

Speaking to reporters, after an executive committee meeting the Governor said that the government had extended the time limit from December 14 to March 31 next year. The extension of time limit was given under Sec 82-A of town and country planning Act, he said.

This will free the people from being anxious with the deadline nearing and gives them enough time to file their applications, he said.

The government took the decision after the High Court in its interim order today asked the government to make the scheme more people friendly. The next hearing was posted for February six.

He said the government was likely to come with corrective measures including reducing the penalty.
