Dhanurmasa pooja at Balaji temple from Dec 17

Tirumala, Dec 11: Dhanurmasa pooja would be performed in the lord Venkateswara temple everyday at 0300 hrs from December 17 to January 14 in place of Suprabhatham.

The Dhanurmasa pooja, as per the age-old practice of the temple would begin at 2113 hrs on December 16, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) said in a release yesterday.

Tiruppavai would be recited at 150 places, including temples and kalyanamandapams (marriage halls) throughout Andhra Pradesh, instead of Suprabhatam.

Vishnu parayanam would be performed by Veda pandits around the four Mada streets in Tirumala during the 29 days in the morning.

Spiritual programmes would be conducted by Dharma Prachar Parishad of TTD at the Tirumala Asthanamandapam during the days.

The devasthanam administration has cancelled the sale of suprabhatham seva tickets on these days, the release added.
