DGP tells cops to be vigilant during Punjab Bandh

Chandigarh, Dec 11 (UNI) Punjab DGP NPS Aulakh today directed the state police officials to be vigilant keeping in view the state Bandh call given by Shiv Sena (Hindustan) on December 14 and Fateh Marches by SAD (Amritsar) on the same day at district headquarters of the party.

The DGP while presiding over the monthly crime review meeting held here today, directed the officials to ensure required preventive measures besides keeping a strict vigil to avoid any untoward incident.

In the meeting, which was attended by all ADGPs, Zonal IGs, Range DIGs and SSPs of the state, Mr Aulakh also asked the officers concerned to make a proposal for setting up of state police's own DNA Lab and facilities like brain mapping and narco analysis in the next modernisation plan of the state police keeping in view the long waiting period for such cases in existing laboratories.

While stressing on the need to take strict action against unscrupulous travel agents, the DGP said in the recent past this campaign had slowed down and resultantly these agents were still cheating the gullible youth.

The Punjab Police Chief also exhorted the field officers to ensure special attention towards checking the crime against women through speedy and expeditious investigation and creating awareness about Domestic Violence Act.
