Congress leader killed , police open fire in air

Hyderabad, Dec 11 (UNI) A Mandal level Congress leader was hacked to death at Aliabad village of Shameerpet mandal in Ranga Reddy district, on the outskirts of the city today.

Police said the mandal level Congress leader and ward member of Aliabad Gramapanchayat P Satyanarayana was attacked by some unknown persons at his house. The victim succumbed to stab injuries on the spot.

Angered at this, his relatives attacked the houses of rivals and damaged furtinure and set ablaze the vehicles parked in front of their houses.

Police rushed to the spot and resorted to lathicharge and opened fire in the air to disperse the mob.

The relatives staged a dharna with the body of the Congress Leader demanding the arrest of four persons Ramana, Krishna, Damodar and Reddy and book murder cases.

Police suspect that the real estate diputes could be the main reason behind the murder. Special police forces were deployed to maintain law and order, and prevent any untoward incident in the village.
