TN govt's plan to create new tourist attractions

Kanyakumari, Dec 10 (UNI) As part of introducing new attractions like helitourism to entice foreign and domestic tourists, the Tamil Nadu government would set up the first under water aquarium in India on the East Coast road on the outskirts of Chennai city, Tourism Minister Suresh Rajan said here today.

Talking to newspersons, he said the unique acquarium, a popular tourist site abroad, would be set up with private participation.

The work on the acquarium would begin soon, he said and added a night safari at a cost of Rs 5 crore would also be introduced in the Vandaloor zoo outside Chennai city.

The Tamil Nadu government had also announced that a butterfly park would be developed at the Children's park situated in the heart of Chennai city.

The state government had also announced that helitourism catering more to foreign tourists would cover Chennai-Tirupati, Chennai-Pondicherry, Madurai to Kodaikanal and Thrivananthapuram to Kanyakumari.
