PRIA, Victoria Univ collaborate in higher education for human dev
New Delhi, Dec 10 (UNI) The Society for Participatory Research in Asia (PRIA) today entered into a collaboration with the University of Victoria in Canada to give impetus to advanced education and research in the field of social and human development.
As part of the arrangement, these institutions will jointly create new opportunities for international internships, develop new advanced courses, promote collaborative research and strengthen and build new institutions.
''There is a need for building capacities of many voluntary activists and organisations through participatory research and community-based learning in India and abroad. This initiative is an important step in this direction,'' president of PRIA, Rajesh Tandon said.
''With this collaboration, we aim to strengthen the voluntary sector by providing hands on experiental learning opportuniies to both Indian and International students alike,'' he said.
Speaking on the occasion, president and Vice Chancellor of the University of Victoria David Howard Turpin said,'' we are delighted to enter into this partnership with a leading Indian civil society organisation since it allows the students, faculty and indeed community leaders of my University in Western Canada the possibilities of learning about methodologies and strategies for human and social development.
