Fomer minister demands reconstituting of committees

Bangalore, Dec 10 (UNI) Former Education Minister G Parmeshwar today urged Governor Rameshwar Thakur to reconstitute the Committees for selection of vice chancellors of various Universities in Karnataka with proper experts heading them In a press release here, Dr Parmeshwar said that the recently appointed three committees set up by the government have deviated the earlier practice of appointing the selection committee with experts drawn from various universities.

Expressing his concern over the issue, he said that the appointment of IAS officers to such selection committees as heads does not augur well to promote autonomy among the universities.

The government has recently set up three committees with IAS offices as heads to appoint VCs to three universities, the note said.

Dr M P Nadagouda, MLC, along with several others had also expressed his concern and demanded the reconstituting of the committees.
