BJP Parliamentary Board Begins Emergency Meeting

New Delhi, Dec 10 (UNI) A meeting of the BJP Parliamentary Board began here this evening on the eve of voting in the first phase of the Assembly elections in Gujarat.

Sources said, the board, the apex decision making body of the party, is likely to officially name Leader of the Opposition L K Advani as the BJP Prime Ministerial candidate.

The step is expected in view of the ill-health of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee which continues to be a matter of concern for the party leadership.

The meeting is being attended by all Parliamentary Board members, including former party President Murli Manohar Joshi.

The Board is also likely to assess the party's prospects at the hustings in Gujarat.
