Ahmedabad, Dec 10 (UNI) The Election Commission (EC) today removed the Bhavnagar Superintendent of Police for violating an observer's directive on the issue of deployment of central forces.

''The EC has decided to remove the Bhavnagar SP as he posted the central forces without a prior consent of the election office observer,'' Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalaswami told mediapersonS at a news conference, called after the review of poll preparedness for the second phase elections.

Polling in Bhavnagar will be held tomorrow.

The Commission acted following a report from the observer that the police official had deviated from the planned posting of forces.

Mr Gopalswami said the state police had to deploy central forces as planned and approved by observers.
