Kolkata, Dec 10: The All India Yuva Congress (AIYC) would request AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi to visit Nandigram, AIYC President Ashoke Tanwar today said.

Mr Gandhi would crisscross the country after the Gujarat elections and is expected to visit West Bengal by January end next year, he told newspersons on the sidelines of an AIYC rally, and said, '' We will request him to go to Nandigram. '' The AIYC had decided to highlight the Nandigram issue throughout the country, he informed.

Ruling out any compulsion of the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance(UPA) Government at the Centre, he said, '' It is our duty to fight the Left Front Government for the Nandigram violence. '' If the Godhra carnage in Gujarat could be genocide, what had happened in Nandigram, he asked.

He called upon the youth to come forward and fight unitedly to free the people from the ''exploitation'' of the Left Front.
