3 policemen suspended for attending illegal marriage

Muzaffarnagar, Dec 10 (UNI) Three policemen were today suspended for attending a marriage ceremony of two ineligible persons, ordered by a panchayat, here.

Feroz, who resided with his uncle in Thanabhavan, had fled with his paramour, also his neighbour, on December 4.

The girl's relatives filed a complaint against him and his uncle, following the incident, police said.

However, dissatisfied relatives of the girl later called a panchayat over the issue which, in turn, to justify things, ordered the marriage of 12-year-old daughter of Feroz's uncle with the girl's 15-yr-old cousin brother.

Knowing this, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mutha Ashok Jain set up a Local Intelligence Unit (LIU) probe into the matter.

Three sleuths, including inspector Inder Singh and constables Dilshaad and Aadesh, who were found to be present in the marriage ceremony, have been suspended.

Investigation was on.
