Vaikunata Ekadasi festival celebration begins

Srirangam, Dec 9 (UNI) The celebration of the annual Vaikunta Ekadasi festival at Shri Ranganathaswamy temple commenced here today with the rendition of the preludes of ''Nalayera Thivyaprabantham'' in front of the sanctum sanctorum of the temple.

Joint Commissioner of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment and Executive Officer of the temple Ms Kavitha said the ''Pagalpathu'' would commence tomorrow.

She said the 21-day 'Vaikunta Ekadasi' festival would culminate on December 30.

The important event of the festival 'Vaikunta Ekadasi' falls on December 20, she said adding that the 'Mohini Alangaram' ritual would be held on December 19 and the 'Nammalvar Motchem' on December 30.

UNI
