TN Cong announces cash award to NGOs

Chennai, Dec 9 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) today announced a cash award of Rs one lakh to NGOs who effectively take to the people the achievements of the UPA Government at the Centre.

The award was announced on the occasion of Congress President Sonia Gandhi's 61st birthday.

In a release, TNCC President M Krishnasamy said the NGOs would also be presented with ''Annai Sonia Gandhi award'' if they created awareness about the Right to Information (RTI) Act and National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme launched by the Centre.
