Punjab Cabinet approves thermal plant for Mansa distt
Chandigarh, Dec 9 (UNI) The Punjab Government today gave the green signal for setting up of the 1800 MWs Talwandi Sabo Thermal Power Plant at Banwala village in Mansa district.
This decision was taken in a meeting of the state Cabinet held here under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.
The Cabinet also granted ex-post facto approval to the recommendations of the cabinet sub-committee for the acquisition of 2100 acres land for this thermal plant at a price 'based on market trends'.
The setting up of the thermal plant would help the state to become self-sufficient in power by the end of 2010.
The state government had already embarked upon an ambitious programme to generate additional power of 5000 MWs by setting up three new thermal plants at Rajpura and Abohar besides at Banwala.
