Kadhar urges CM to set up high-level committee for quota

Chennai, Dec 9 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Working Committee of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) today urged Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to set up a high-level committee to monitor the implementation of three per cent reservation for minorities in various sectors of the state.

Talking to newspersons here, IUML Chairperson K M Kadhar Mohiudeen said, ''We request the state government to set up a high-level committee for monitoring the implementation of the quota so that the minority communities could get full benefit out of it.'' ''Our working committee meeting urged the Centre for early implementation of Sethusamudram Shipping Canal Project,'' he added.

Ten resolutions were adopted at the meeting on Saturday. They included those voicing concern over the Mullai Periyar dam issue.

The IUML also sought early implementation of the Sachar Committee and the Mishra Commission reports.
