Granting license to private companies for opium processing opposed
Bhopal, Dec 9 (UNI) The Centre of Indian Trade Unions' (CITU) Madhya Pradesh unit has opposed the Centre's decision to leave monopoly from opium industry and granting licenses to private companies.
In a statement here today, CITU General Secretary Badal Saroj demanded rescinding of the decision in national interest considering that presence of private companies in opium processing would increase opium trade.
He said the Centre had monopoly over opium production for manufacturing medicines since before independence. However, if private companies were allowed opium export, it would leave less opium for producing medicines.
