Goa facing defeat against J
Patiala, Dec 9 (UNI) Goa is facing certain defeat against Jammu&Kashmir (J&K) in the ongoing Cooch Behar Trophy (Under-19) here at the Dhruv Pandove Cricket Stadium.
Overnight 4 for 2 in 4.4 overs, Goa were all out for 128 in 39.3 overs on the second day of the four-day tie today. Rajsekhar scored a fluent 49, which was studded with eight fours. Amit Yadav (33) and Girish Yadav (12) were the other run-getters for Goa.
For J&K, Mohammad Muddassar bowled magnificently to rip apart the Goa batting line-up as he captured seven wickets, giving away 47 runs. Ram Dayal took 2 for 38.
The J&K skipper enforced the follow-on and Goa were reeling at 94 for 7 in 45 overs in the second essay at close of play. J&K had scored 284 in the first innings.
For Goa, Suraj Dongre scored a painstaking half century (55) which contained 8 boundaries in the second innings. He faced 123 balls.
For J&K, Manik Gupta took 4 for 29, while Mohammad Muddassar, Ram Dayal and P Rasool took one wicket each.
Goa still require 56 runs to avoid innings defeat tomorrow, the penultimate day of the match.
J&K had earlier snatched victory against Tripura here in the Cooch Behar Trophy and a win against Goa will surely consolidate their position in the competition.
