Fake currency racket kingpin arrested in Tripura

Agartala, Dec 9: The Tripura CID arrested a fake currency deal kingpin from Malaya village along the Indo-Bangladesh border under Kamalpur police station last night.

Police said here today that based on the information provided by another fake currency dealer Sahidur Alam, CID officials arrested Md Juad Ali, who had been transacting and importing fake Indian currency from Bangladesh since the past four years, at Malaya.

Sahidur Alam also told the police that Md Sagir Ahmed, who was arrested in October for possessing fake currency worth Rs one lakh, was one of his associates.

He further revealed that the accused Md Juad Ali brought the fake currency from Moulavi Bazar in Bangladesh and handed it over to him at various areas in the Kamalpur sub-division.

Md Juad Ali would be produced before the court tomorrow, police added.
