The ruling Congress in the state had waived off power arrears of farmers to the tune of Rs 9.75 crore, he said the govenrment was supplying free power worth Rs six crore to them every year.

Stating that the state government had taken the initiative to construct the Palar irrigation project in Kuppam, the Congress leader said work on the project would begin after Supreme Court accords permission.

Accusing Mr Naidu of closing down the Chittoor district dairy society to establish his own dairy unit, Mr Kirankumar said the state government had set up cooling centres in the district for the benefit of dairy farmers.
