A temple with AIDS 'red ribbon' symbol as Idol

Mysore, Dec 9 (UNI) At a time when various AIDS awareness campaigns are on across the country, the villagers of Menasinakyathanhalli in this district have something new to offer--a temple with the international red ribbon symbol, associated with AIDS awareness, as an idol.

The villagers along with NGOs and SHGs yesterday took out a rally to the temple and worshipped the idol.

The temple, a brainchild of a government school teacher, was set up after one of the villagers committed suicide due to HIV infection and subsequent harassment from the villagers.

The temple also had posters on AIDS awareness pasted all around it.
