16 killed in three road incidents in Karnataka

Bangalore, Dec 9 (UNI) Sixteen people were killed and 14 others injured in three separate road accidents in the state last night, police said today.

Nine people, including a three-year-old boy, belonging to single family, were killed and another four seriously injured, when a passenger vehicle was hit by a truck at Bammanajogi cross in Sindhagi-Bijapur state highway last night, the police said.

Reckless driving by the truck driver had reportedly caused the death of the nine people, the police said, adding that the injured were admitted to the district hospital, Bijapur. The truck driver fled the scene after the incident.

In another incident, according to the police, four people were killed and another seven injured, when the car, they were travelling in, collided with a tractor in Sankeshwar in Belgaum district last night.

In a third incident, three peole were killed and three others injured near Bhadravathi in Shimoga district last night, when their car hit the truck, the police said.

All the three injured were admitted to the Government Hospital in Bhadravathi, the police added.
