Private educational institutions to pay property tax
Bhopal, Dec 8 (UNI) Private educational institutions will soon come under the ambit of property tax.
Official sources said a resolution to this effect was passed by the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) at a recently-held meeting and it would be implemented soon.
The BMC has estimated that revenue from property tax would fetch it Rs one crore every year. Property tax would be calculated on the basis of business of the institutions.
So far, institutes attached to private educational institutions like libraries, canteens and hostels were exempted from property tax. The provision was being used by several private institutions to evade property tax.
