POSCO TJ Park offers scholarship to 29 students.

Bhubaneswar, Dec 8 (UNI) 29 meritorious undergraduate students from Utkal University, Kalinga Industrial Institute of Technology (KIIT) and Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) here were awarded Scholarship of Merit by POSCO TJ Park Foundation, South Korea.

POSCO-India Chairman-cum-Managing Director Soung-Sik Cho, while addressing a function yesterday, said each student selected for the scholarship would get 500 dollar per year with performance based renewal for subsequent years.

The scholarships were merit-based and recommended by the respective universities and institutions to the TJ Park Foundation.

Mr Cho said POSCO-India for the first time was introducing such scholarships for undergraduates, exclusively from the plant site area from this year.

He said 35 students have been selected for the scholarship while giving priority to the to-be-displaced families and those belonging to the economically backward sections of the society.

''The scholarships would be given to the students soon,'' he said.

and hoped that the move would motivate the outstanding students to excel in their fields of study and inspire the less privileged students to pursue their higher education.
