Nandigram a lesson: Swadeshi Jagran Manch
Indore, Dec 8 (UNI) Condemning the alleged massacre at West Bengal's Nandigram, the Swadeshi Jagran Manch today said that the tragedy was a lesson for those states whose regimes wanted to wrest small farmers' fertile land in the name of special economic zones (SEZs).
A resolution, passed on the penultimate day of a three-day Manch conference here, stressed on reconsidering the SEZ scheme. It said that even the International Monetary Fund and Finance Ministry were of the opinion that tax concession for SEZ would entail revenue losses running into crores.
Alleging that SEZs would not create employment, the resolution added that Nandigram exposed the truth behind communist policies and sounded the death knell for SEZs. For 11 months, Left workers were in control of Nandigram and acted wantonly, it added.
