Jammu possesses ample potential as city of heritage: Azad
Jammu, Dec 8 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today said Jammu should be developed as a heritage city as it is bestowed with multi-faceted cultural heritage and religious places.
Presiding over a meeting of the representatives of Indian National Trust for Art, Culture and Heritage (INTACH) here, Mr Azad said all-out efforts have to be made to develop Jammu city as an important place for tourists particularly for a large chunk of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrims.
''Developing Jammu city as a heritage will help in generating economic activities and employment avenues,'' Mr Azad said highlighting the need for developing the 'City of Temples' as an important heritage centre to attract tourists from all over.
However, Mr Azad also presented a cheque of Rs 11.55 lakh to INTACH as the first installment out of Rs 33 lakh of the administrative cost for the preparation of the measured documents, detailed project report and tender documents for restoration, preservation and re-use of the historic Mubarak Mandi Complex here on behalf of the society.
