'CPM not to allow Centre to sign nuclear deal'
Raxual,
Dec
8:
CPI(M)
state
secretary
Vijay
Kant
Thakur
today
said
the
party
would
not
allow
the
Manmohan
Singh
Government
to
sign
the
nuclear
deal
with
US.
Accusing the UPA government of following in the footsteps of United States, Mr Thakur said the Government should think beyond the purview of ambiguous US policies and must work on independent foreign policy.
''We are most concerned about non-interference of power blocks in our national and international relations and we will not allow the Manmohan Singh Government to sign nuclear deal with US,'' Mr Thakur observed.
He maintained that US was trying to dominate the world politics specially after the collapse of USSR in 1991 and the nuke deal was an attempt by it to keep its hegemony unchallenged.
He further alleged that the UPA government was ''shaking hand'' with US when anti-US feeling was growing across the world.
''The people in Latin America itself are now supporting left governments. It is the right time to bycott the US policy'' Mr Thakur stated.
