CPI(M) not to allow the Centre to sign nuclear deal: Thakur
Raxual, Dec 8 (UNI) CPI(M) state secretary Vijay Kant Thakur today said the party would not allow the Manmohan Singh government to sign the nuclear deal with the US.
Accusing the UPA government at the Centre of following the footsteps of the United States, Mr Thakur said the Government should think beyond the purview of ambiguous US policies and must work on independent foreign policy.
''We are most concerned about non-interference of power blocks in our national and international relations and we will not allow the Manmohan Singh government to sign nuclear deal with the US,'' Mr Thakur observed.
He maintained that the US was trying to dominate the world politics specially after the collapse of USSR in 1991 and the nuke deal was an attempt by the US to keep its hegemony unchallenged.
He further alleged that the UPA government was ''shaking hand'' with the US when anti-US feeling was growing across the world.
''The people in Latin America itself are now supporting left governments. It is the right time to bycott the US policy'' Mr Thakur stated.
