Varanasi, Dec 7 (UNI) The resident doctors of Sir Sunder Lal Hospital of the Banaras Hindu University today once again went on an indefinite strike paralysing its functioning.

The resident doctors are protesting the alleged misbehaviour by the relatives of a patient with the doctors on duty.

The resident doctors had gone on strike on November 30, but resumed work after getting an assurance from the university administration.

The protestors are demanding the arrest of the culprits and adequate security to them.

The BHU officials had met the doctors yesterday, asking for four more days to take action against the guilty, but the resident doctors were adamant to continue their strike.

Resident Doctors Association president Dr Avinash had said ''the doctors would not give more time to the varsity administration.'' Meanwhile, the teachers of Mahatama Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth continued their dharana on the fifth consecutive day today at Bharat Mata Mandir. The teachers were protesting the indefinite strike of resident doctors.

Many other organisations of the city have also criticised the action of the resident doctors and urged them to return on their duty in the interest of the patients.

Sir Sunder Lal hospital is one of the biggest hospital, where patients from many districts, besides UP come for treatment.
