SC dismisses petition against Jet Airways Chief
New Delhi, Dec 7 (UNI) The Supreme Court today dismissed a petition, seeking an inquiry into the allegations made in 2001 Intelligence Bureau (IB) letter alleging that Jet Airways Chairman Naresh Goel had links with mafia don Dawood Ibrahim and Chota Shakeel and their money was invested in Jet Airways.
A bench comprising Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan and Justice R V Raveendran dismissed the petition filed by Urdu journalist M Furquan, after hearing his counsel Mr Shanti Bhushan, who contended that the letter written by IB officers must be investigated and if the information was found to be false then the officers concerned should have been prosecuted.
Mr Bhushan also contended that Naresh Goel has used the underworld funds in the purchase of Sahara Airlines.
Senior counsel Harish Salve appeared for Naresh Goel.
The apex court, while dismissing the petition, noted that Bombay High Court has already given them opportunity to take appropriate steps.
