New Delhi, Dec 7 (UNI) Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) today said it has signed an agreement with state-owned gas transmission major Gail India to transport gas from its KG basin oil blocks through a 15,000 km long east-west pipeline.

The gas will feed Maharashtra, Gujurat and Andhra Pradesh along the route, RIL sources said.

RIL is laying a 1,400 km pipeline from Kakinada to Ahmedabad for taking gas from the east coast to consumption centres in the West.

For taking the gas to the north, RIL will use GAIL's trunk pipeline network from Maharashtra to Uttar Pradesh.

RNRL had earlier sought the board's approval for laying a pipeline to transport its share of gas from RIL's D6 block in the KG basin to Dadri.

In March this year, the RIL and Gail had also agreed to cooperate in the natural gas sector, including gas pipelines, city gas distribution, coal-bed methane, oil exploration, production, operations and maintenance services.

RIL is looking to bring its gas from the KG basin in the market next year, it now increasingly look towards GAIL's pipeline infrastructure to reach out to potential customers.
