Rao urges Centre to give more freedom to scientists

Bangalore, Dec 7 (UNI) Chairman of Science Advisory Council to the Prime Minister C N R Rao today urged the Centre to provide more freedom to scientists and researchers to continue with their work to achieve economic growth for the country.

Prof Rao, in his valedictory address at the Bangalore Nano 2007 here said the Centre should follow the established models of developed nations to set up better environment for researchers to work.

''The Indian scientists can make any nanomaterials at any form required. We are still looking for technologies to make the devices commercially,'' he said.

''There is a global demand for nanomaterials. India should cater to this in the coming years.'' ''Money is not a problem for India, but development of manpower to promote the technology is,'' he added.
