Pondy AIADMK seeks Anbumani's resignation on JIPMER

Puducherry, Dec 7 (UNI) The AIADMK here today demanded resignation of Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Anbumani Ramdoss, as the JIPMER Bill forwarded by him could not be passed in the Rajya Sabha.

Addressing the press, AIADMK State Secretary A Anbazhagan, MLA, said Dr Anbumani had allegedly twisted facts on conversion of JIPMER into an autonomous institution and made it seem as if there was no objection from the people here.

However, when the Parliamentary Standing Committee visited Puducherry, it came to know the facts, Mr Anbazhagan said adding the Prime Minister should dismiss the Minister for 'not presenting the real facts in the Bill.'He also ridiculed the Congress for adopting double standard on the issue.

The MLA also said party supremo J Jayalalithaa had given a direction to organise a demonstration before the Railway Station here tomorrow to press the Centre for payment of Rs 1,000 as MSP for paddy.

Accordingly, the demonstration would be held in Karaikal on December 12, he added.

Referring to the bomb blast at Vanarapet recently, Mr Anbazhagan claimed four people had died.

While two boys died in the blast, the grandfather of one of them allegedly committed suicide and another, a suspect and accused in the case, who set himself afire, also died at the General Hospital last night.

The Chief Minister had announced a solatium of Rs one lakh each to the families of the deceased which was not sufficient and at least Rs five lakh should be given.

Since all the four were SCs, Welfare Minister Kandasamy should arrange for disbursement of Rs two lakh each to the families from the Special Component Plan as solatium.
