National Mineral Award 2006 to Dr Chakraborty

Panaji, Dec 7 (UNI) Dr Bishwajit Chakraborty, a senior scientist in Geological Oceanography Division at the National Institute of Oceanography Goa, is the recipient of the ''National Mineral Award 2006'' this year.

The award will be given to Dr Chakraborty for his significant contribution in the field of earth sciences and related fields under the National Mineral Award scheme of the Ministry of Mines, Government of India.

The award will be presented during a special function to be held in New Delhi.

Dr Chakraborty has over twenty-four years of research experience in underwater Acoustics, Acoustic Signal Processing, Artificial Neural Network related to seafloor classification and Multibeam Sonar. He has 53 research publications in various journals of National and International repute.
