MP to observe 'Bharat Parva' on Jan 26

Bhopal, Dec 7 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Government has decided to observe 'Bharat Parva' on January 26 on the occasion of Republic Day at all district headquarters.

''A decision has been taken to celebrate 'Bharat Parva' to mark 150 years of the first war of Independence and 60th year of freedom,'' Culture Minister Lakshmikant Sharma told reporters here today.

He said patriotic programmes and various cultural activities would be organised on the occasion.

Informing that 'Bharat Parva' would be celebrated every year, Mr Sharma explained that the function aimed at educating new generation about martyrs of independence.

Besides these programmes, a tableau of 'Vikas Yatras' showcasing achievements of the state government would also be taken out.

The programmes would be organised with the cooperation of the Culture department, the Swaraj Sansthan Directorate and the Directorate of Public Relations.

He added that an exhibition focussing on 1857 freedom struggle, freedom movement in Madhya Pradesh and 'Jungle Satyagrah' would be showcased on the occasion.
