Centre asks NE states to involve NGOs in poverty eradication

Agartala, Dec 7 (UNI) The Union Rural Development Ministry has directed the Northeastern state governments to engage NGOs and other private agencies in their poverty eradication programme.

Official sources said here today that the ministry had wished to involve the NGOs to reach to the grassroot level.

Stating that poverty could not be eradicated without solving the unemployment problem, the ministry also suggested analysing policies, institutional financing, direct action and other instruments to help improve the socio-economic problems of the poor more efficiently.
