67 slapped with Gangster Act

Jaunpur, Dec 7 (UNI) Police has booked 67 persons under the Gangster Act To maintain law and order in the city, and sent them to jail.

Police Superintendent Lalji Shukla said since October, 67 people had been charged with the Gangster Act, while action was taken against 286 people under Arms Act.

In asynchronous raids, six arms unit were unearthed with the seizure of 148 countrymade pistols, 11 countrymade revolvers, 507 cartridges and six bombs.

Besides, 32 illicit liquor factories were busted and almost 300 bootleggers were booked. Police recovered 25,000 illicit liquor and 1.5 quintal ganja from their possession.
