2 UTs seriously injured while making bombs on court premises

Ranchi, Dec 7 (UNI) Two prisoners, brought to Hazaribagh district court for judicial production, were seriously injured while making bombs inside the washroom of the court premises today.

Director General of Police V D Ram told UNI over phone here that Sub-Inspector Vir Ram, in-charge of the court lock-up, and five constables deputed for prisoner squad were placed under suspension with immediate effect.

Inspector General (operation) D K Pandey narrating the incident said the duo, brought from Central jail in Hazaribagh, were meant for judicial production. Around 1600 hrs they went inside the toilet of the lock-up and were making bombs which went off injuring them seriously.

In Hazaribagh, Deputy Commissioner Himani Pandey said the criminals might have had a plan to escape after triggering the blast which did not materialise following their injury.

Immediately after the incident, a police team led by Superintendent of Police Praveen Singh sealed the court premises and started investigation.

In April, 2005, 19 undertrial prisoners managed to escape in the district in similar manner.
