Lucknow, Dec 6 (UNI) Despite the Centre's no response to the state's earlier demand of over Rs 1 lakh crore package for the developmental schemes, Uttar Pradesh government today sent another financial package demand to the tune of Rs 7016 crore for the drought-hit Bundelkhand and Vindyachal regions of the state.

The new package demanded for the nine districts of the drought hit regions includes Rs 4,867 crore for the medium and long-term schemes and the remaining Rs 2049 crore for the short-term projects.

State principal secretary (Chief Minister) Shailesh Krishna told reporters here that the package has been sent to the Centre and the state government has urged them to deliver a quick response to the demand as the situation in the drought-hit region was 'serious'.

He said under the relief package sent to the Centre, the UP government has proposed to set up foodgrain bank and community kitchen in each village of the nine affected districts, while school children would be provided mid-day meal on holidays also.
