TNAU Colleges closed down indefinitely
Coimbatore, Dec 6 (UNI) Colleges affiliated to Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) were closed down indefinitely from today.
According to a university release here, the closure was due to a strike by the students. The students had been instructed to vacate the hostels by tomorrow, the release added.
Meanwhile, the students association led by students Rajadurai ,Balasubramanian and Lavenya told newsmen that they would intensify the strike if Chief Minister M Karunanidhi did not intervene on their issue.
They charged that State Agricultural Minister Veerapandi Arumugam had insulted them when they met him to seek a solution to their issues.
Their demands included an 11-point charter, including appointment of staff in agricultural department by filling up the vacancies with agricultural graduate students, instead of appointing B E (Agricultural) graduates through TNPSC for assistant engineer post as per the government announcement.
