Stolen diamond jewels recovered; one held

Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu, Dec 6 (UNI) The Kancheepuram police here today solved a case pertaining to theft of diamond jewels worth Rs 16 lakh from a star hotel at Kovalam in this district, with the arrest of a security staff.

Police said one Sivaprasad Reddy, hailing from Bangalore, and his family had checked into the hotel on December 3 to attend a wedding. After attending the wedding, his daughter Rukmani Reddy had kept her diamond jewels in her mother's handbag and went to sleep.

However, the jewels and Rs 4,000 in cash were found missing in the morning.

The police swung into action and carried out investigations.

Jayaprakash (30), one of the security staff at the hotel, confessed to the crime and returned the jewels and cash.
